AI-powered shopping platform, Minty, has launched the Minty Shopify app giving merchants enhanced ways to bridge the gap between browsing and buying. By connecting any Shopify store to Minty’s vast network of shoppers during their purchasing decisions, merchants can reach consumers at the checkout, activating cashback offers and helping reach AI-assisted and anonymous shoppers that traditional data tracking may miss.

Affectionately calling itself your “AI-powered shopping companion,” Minty is a cashback app, automatically searching and applying coupon codes whilst customers earn rewards across more than 30,000 online stores.

Minty expands cashback into ChatGPT, mobile and browser shopping

Using Minty’s Shopify app, merchants can access these new features without the need for any developer setup or code. They simply pay when the tools deliver any results.

Shopify merchants can now drop into “shopping conversations” at the point of purchase, rather than during the discovery phase. Minty displays cashback offers when shoppers are close to buying a product, becoming the first cashback platform to appear across AI chats such as ChatGPT, as well as Chrome and Safari browsers, and mobile services. The goal is to encourage consumers who are hesitant about completing their purchase with a cashback incentive.

The new app integration also enables Minty merchants to find and connect with high-intent shoppers who visit and show interest on their site but do not make a purchase. Shopify data typically informs merchants about customers who have completed a purchase, but does not reveal much about those who browse and compare products, or leave before checking out.

Now, Minty can provide deeper insight into high-intent shoppers. This includes people who browse anonymously or use AI shopping tools, thus identifying potential buyers earlier to try and persuade them back with cashback offers.

Merchants given more control over customer re-engagement

The Shopify Minty app allows merchants to follow up with visitors once they have left their site. According to Baymard Institute research, 70% of online shopping carts are abandoned before checkout is completed. In the US, around $260 billion in recoverable revenue lies dormant in abandoned carts each year.

Minty now helps merchants re-connect with those “lost” shoppers via compliant SMS and email, as well as gathering first-party customer contacts through one-click opt-in offers. Merchants have full ownership of their customer’s information rather than relying on data controlled by other platforms, such as Google, using it for future marketing.

Rodney Mason, Chief Marketing Officer of Mint, commented “The traditional shopper journey is going away and merchants can no longer wait for shoppers to come to them. Shopping now happens across search, social, and AI conversations, and the moment a shopper decides to buy can pass in seconds.”

“That’s the idea behind Proactive Commerce: instead of just waiting for a specific behaviour to trigger an offer, Minty is embedded in the discovery and decision process. For Shopify merchants, that means converting intent they’d otherwise never see, instead of chasing it after the fact.”

With 77% of shoppers now using AI tools to research their purchases, the Minty Shopify app is set to help Shopify businesses get their products and offers directly to those very consumers.
