ASOS and HBO will be the first brands to make use of Snapchat’s new Promoted Story advertising format.

Snap Q3 earnings show weak revenue and user growth

The share price of Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, fell sharply yesterday as the company’s Q3 earnings report showed that revenue had come in way under expectations.

The company had been predicted to earn $237 million in revenue in the quarter, but actual earnings came in at $207.9 million. Snap also posted a big loss of $443 million, including a $40 million charge on unsold Spectacles hardware.

Facebook ad revenue hits $10 billion

Facebook has beaten expectations with its Q3 results, although its shares fell due to the 2018 expense forecast.

The company reported a 49% jump in quarterly advertising revenue, reaching above $10 billion for the first time. Total revenue was $10.3 billion, of which $10.1 billion came from advertising.

126 million US Facebook users may have seen Russia-banked posts

The scale and potential reach of political content allegedly uploaded onto Facebook by Russia-backed operatives has been revealed.

The social media giant has estimated that around 80,000 posts were produced and uploaded before and after the divisive 2016 US presidential election that saw Donald Trump narrowly beat Hilary Clinton.

Real world measurement features sends Snapchat ad spend soaring 73%

A number of new offline features introduced by Snapchat have added value to advertisers, and led to the company having a mammoth Q3 2017.

Facebook ‘Frames’ and Instagram ‘Geostickers’ highlighted as potential patent infringements

Quarter of digital marketers aren’t tracking spend

More money than ever is being allocated to digital marketing budgets, as companies and brands try to launch social media campaigns, publish videos and create content.
