After two weeks of operation as an invite only beta service, Google+ has amassed over 10m members, Google CEO Larry Page said yesterday.

Speaking at Google’s quarterly earnings announcement, Page, who posted his quarterly meeting address on his Google+ page, said the company had “substantially increased our velocity and execution this quarter--a key goal of mine since taking over as CEO”.

10 Quick Google+ Tips and Tricks

With Google+ invites being distributed more freely, it’s really awesome to see more people joining in. One of the most important factors of a social network is that it gets adopted and used by all your friends and the people you like to follow and stay connected to.

The awesome thing about Google+ is that you can add anyone that’s on the network to one of your Circles and follow them. Another bonus is that they will never know which Circle they’re in, potentially saving users from insulting...

Facebook vs Google+ [infographic]

There’s been a lot of talk about Facebook and Google+ over the past few weeks since Google+ was launched. A lot of people think Google+ will gain more traction than Facebook, but on the flip side, a lot of people don’t think Google+ has a chance.

I’m on the fence and right now I think that it’s going to take Google+ a hell of a lot of work to become anything like Facebook. Facebook has 750 million users, that’s a huge number of people and although Google’s audience...

Searching Google by Images

In an ideal world, searching anything on the internet you would have to physically type a query into a search engine field. However, what happens when you need to search to find “data” about “data”? Before you get confused, let me explain.

Google+ awaits iOS app approval

Google is waiting to find out if a mobile version of its new social networking platform will be approved by Apple for use on iPhones and iPads.

Although neither company have commented, a Google employee wrote on her Google+ page that the app was waiting for approval.

“For my iPhone using friends: the Google+ iPhone app has been submitted to the App store (no not today, sometime prior to today) and is awaiting approval,” she wrote.

Apple has a strict app vetting process, and has rejected Google...

How to import your Facebook friends into Google+

I remember when LinkedIn added functionality allowing you to invite your contacts from all over the place. This certainly played a huge role in the success that LinkedIn has gained, as in my opinion, success is determined by engagement on social networks, which boils down to having lots of connected people.

Google+ is no different, the more people and the more interaction, the more success and it would appear that others feel the same way. Mohamed Mansour is a developer who’s created a Chrome...

Why move from Facebook to Google+?

I came across an incredibly interesting post outlining reasons why you should move to Google+ from Facebook. I’ve been waiting for these types of posts for a couple days now and am thrilled to see then popping up.

I’ve been using Google+ for a while, but can’t say that I really have my mind around it, like I do Facebook, but I can see potential.

Anyway, here are the nine reasons as well as a link to the original website if you want a...

Google Announces the Google+ Project

Not to be confused with Google +1, Google+ is the search engine’s newest attempt at improving the social media networking experience. Google isn’t branding it as a social network, per say, but rather as a project.

According to Google:

“Among the most basic of human needs is the need to connect with others. With a smile, a laugh, a whisper or a cheer, we connect with others every single day. Today, the connections between...

Google Panda chews on fresh content

Google Panda is the latest update to Google’s Search algorithm. It basic role is to eliminate low quality websites from search engine result pages. Anton Koekemoer shows us in his blog post on Google Panda that the trick to working with Google Panda is to consider the user first. I think this is key to any web marketing. Google launches Facebook rival

After a number of abortive attempts since 2009, Google has finally unveiled what it believes will be the service that anchors it as a major player in the world of social media, Google +.

It incorporates numerous sharing, networking and communication features; some new, though many that we’ve seen before, but represents what many have described as a solid start.

Currently open to users on an invite only basis, Google is referring to Google+ as a project, rather than a product, perhaps hinting at the...

Google testing out URLs above the meta description

If you are logged into Google then along with the +1 badges that are now showing up in the UK results, you may start to see this strange looking test:

What Do You Love? Google Wants to Help

Yesterday, the editors over at TechCrunch were some of the first to discover the latest addition to the Google pantheon of gadgets, tool and all-around fun stuff. With little to no fanfare from Google itself, WDYL.com (What Do You Love?) made its quiet online debut.

Breaking: New Google Design

Over the past decade and a bit, we’ve seen Google evolve in many ways, but something they’ve been somewhat shy about is change in terms of design, but that seems to be changing a little as of today.

Google’s announced that they’ll be rolling out some new changes across their applications including the search engine. I’m sure you’ve noticed that little cog that appears in applications at the top left of your screen, the settings menu so to say, we’ll this area and the...

Google’s Me on the Web Online Reputation Management tool

Managing your identity online has become more and more important as social networks have allowed us to publish all sorts of information really easy. A lot of people aren’t aware at just how much of their information is entering the network and it’s not their fault! Google crawls most things online, in fact, literally anything it can find that hasn’t told it not to. With content being king, and especially refresh content, Google...
